Douglas M. Nelson, D.P.M.

Douglas M. Nelson, D.P.M.

A lifelong resident of Erie, Pennsylvania, Dr. Nelson graduated from McDowell High School and completed his Bachelor of Science Degree in Science from The Pennsylvania State University.  He then graduated from Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine (now the Kent State University College of Podiatric Medicine).  His residency was in Cleveland, Ohio, including Foot and Ankle surgery at the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine Clinics, Woman's General Hospital, and Bayview Hospital.  He was a visiting fellow in biomechanical research at the Cleveland Clinic.  He then joined his father in practice at West Ten Podiatry Center in Erie.  He is double-board certified by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery and the American Board of Podiatric Medicine.  He is Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons and the American College of Foot and Ankle Orthopedics and Medicine.  Dr. Nelson maintains active surgical privileges at UPMC Hamot Surgery Center, Saint Vincent Surgery Center, Village SurgiCenter, Saint Vincent Hospital, and Millcreek Community Hospital.  Dr. Nelson is a former Presque Isle State Park police officer and has spent many years small-boat sailing on Presque Isle bay.  He enjoys walking with his wife and spending time with his three daughters.
